Frequently asked questions

Can vegetarian and Jain meals be arranged?

Yes, but it needs confirming with hotels in advance. Options are good in Srinagar and thin out considerably at Gulmarg and Pahalgam, where hotel kitchens are the only realistic source.

When does the Tulip Garden open?

Typically for a few weeks in April, though the exact window shifts each year with the weather. Booking a trip specifically around the bloom is risky unless you can keep the dates flexible.

How much will a Kashmir trip cost?

Our printed rates start at ₹27,200 per car for four nights covering Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam, and ₹29,700 per car for five nights with a Pahalgam stay and a houseboat night. Group rates run ₹38,200 for four people, ₹70,500 for eight and ₹96,600 for twelve — roughly ₹8,000 to ₹9,600 a head. Airfare, gondola tickets and local union taxis are extra.

What is the cost of a Kashmir tour?

Group size moves the price more than anything else, because the vehicle and the hotel are shared. A party of twelve pays about ₹8,050 a head on our four-night package; a party of four pays about ₹9,550. Season matters too — March and November are the cheapest months with usable weather, and the Christmas to New Year week is the most expensive.

Is food expensive in Kashmir?

Not compared with other Indian hill destinations. Our packages include breakfast and dinner at the hotel on the MAP or MAPI plan, so lunch is the main extra. Outside Srinagar the choice thins considerably — Gulmarg and Pahalgam have very few places to eat beyond the hotels, which is worth planning around rather than budgeting around.

Is 2 days enough for Kashmir?

Not realistically. Two days covers Srinagar itself — the Mughal gardens and a shikara ride — and little else. Gulmarg is 105 minutes each way and Pahalgam 150, so a single valley excursion consumes most of a day. Two nights is a stopover rather than a Kashmir trip.
